Alburnett Road extension could start in April 2025
The city plans a new road from Alburnett Road at Bowstring Drive through Willow Park to Marion Boulevard with three new signalized intersections and a bridge over Indian Creek. Construction scheduled to begin as early as next April, with a two year timeline and costs likely higher than the 2017 estimate of 9.4 million dollars given inflation. Marion has secured a 7 million dollar federal grant through the Community Project Funding program.

Marion eyed Alburnett Road extension to ease traffic
Barkalow cites residential cut-through on Alburnett Road as a traffic problem in Marion. Snyder & Associates’ study notes 10th Street between Seventh Avenue and Boyson Road bears the most congestion and the project would provide a quicker path for emergency vehicles.
