Cedar Rapids considers 25 mph limit on Third Street SW
The Cedar Rapids City Council approved first reading of an ordinance to reduce Third Street SW speed from 30 mph to 25 mph. Residents along the corridor between Wilson Avenue and 16th Avenue SW say trucks from I 380 speed through, causing vibrations to homes. Councilmen Floyd Bergen and Wayne Murdock noted rerouting all trucks is unlikely but lowering speed may help and discussed directing tanker traffic from Corn Sweeteners to Penick & Ford via Sixth Street SW and First Avenue to reduce use of Third Street SW.
