Mr and Mrs George E Thompson and their son Pvt Vern J Thompson of 1624 Wildwood drive NE returned Monday after a weekend in Zanesville Ohio visiting Mr and Mrs Paul L Eichenberg. Mrs Eichenberg, their daughter, and her children Sharon Marie Peter and Paul joined them for the return visit.
The Navy Mothers club will sew at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Children's Home, inviting members and volunteers to participate in the community project.
Miss Mary Loretta McInerney and Herbert M. Shepard were married Tuesday morning at Immaculate Conception church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. John M. Moly reading the ceremony. The bride wore marquisette over satin with a tiara of orange blossoms and carried red roses and white carnations. Bridesmaids wore yellow and blue gowns. Best man was James McInerney, with Don McVeigh as groomsman. The couple plans a Roosevelt hotel reception. she works for Northwestern Life in Cedar Rapids, he for Metcalf Hamilton Construction in Iowa City.
Mrs. Dan McKenzie, a Mississippi farm wife, earned nearly $10,000 from berries grown on three acres and bedspreads sewn from fertilizer sacks. She has purchased $9,600 in bonds since June 1942.
Joyce Lane married Harold P. Bergen at 8 p.m. in Trinity Methodist Church with Rev. J. E. DeLong officiating. The event drew 250 guests and featured floral altars, tapers, and a wedding cake with miniature bride and groom.
Charlene Marie Brecht and Raphael J. McGee were married Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Brecht home in Olin with Rev. W. T. Boston officiating. Attendants included Mrs. G. L. Parkins and Gene Brecht. The couple plans to live in Cedar Rapids where McGee is employed by H. and W. Motor Express.
Clet L. Driscoll of Westwood California is spending this week visiting his father Dan E. Driscoll at 702 Ninth Street SW.
Miss Luvena M. McKeehan and Leonard W. Santon repeated their marriage vows Sunday at 4 p.m. in the First Christian church before Dr. Carrolli C. Roberts with 150 relatives and friends. The couple will reside at 1611 Seventh Avenue SE. Santon works for Cedar Rapids Engineering Co. and Mrs. Santon staff at John H. Fortune’s office.
Alpha Xi Delta Alumnae honored six Coe College seniors at a Monday dessert at the Roosevelt hotel. Each recipient received a gift. top academic honors went to Miss Barbara Chartier who received the honor ring from Mrs. Gene Carson. Senior members were initiated into the alumnae group.
Mrs. A H Morgan of 1519 Ellis Boulevard NW has left for an extended stay with Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Walter H Staves in Hollywood California. The Staves formerly resided in Cedar Rapids.

The Woplasu Camp Fire group held a council fire Monday afternoon at Bever Park. Honors were awarded for the year’s activities. A marshmallow roast concluded the gathering. Mrs. Erwin Stepanek is guardian.
