2000 foot law blamed as offenders skirt registry
Iowa officers say the 2000 foot rule discourages homeless offenders from registering and living near schools or day care centers. They report more offenders charged for failing to provide addresses, while enforcement sweeps and outreach postcards aim to improve registry accuracy. Several local arrests and crossings are listed with dates and locations in Eastern Iowa.
