In Paris Kennedy and De Gaulle conclude three day talks with a communique confirming obligations toward West Berlin. Kennedy told reporters the discussions increased his confidence in the alliance and future cooperation between the United States and France.

U S district judge ordered tests of racial barriers in Alabama halted and issued a broad no violence injunction against Montgomery police the Ku Klux Klan and several individuals. He also threatened jail for leaders if rioting recurs and extended injunctions to key civil rights figures and groups including CORE SCLC SNCC and the Montgomery County Jail Assn.
Chicago AP reports Lester Langrehr 48 of Maquoketa Ja and five co defendants pleaded guilty to a will forgery conspiracy. Langrehr received one to three years in prison. Jordan 49 and Hildenbrand 59 drew ninety day terms for drafting two fake wills related to 540 000 estates. Probation requests by three others were under consideration.
