Confession tossed in murder case over Miranda rights
Williams burg man Cody Stevenson 30 seeks to exclude his police confession after claiming he did not understand his right to remain silent. He is charged with first degree murder for allegedly punching his girlfriend’s 2 1/2 year old daughter in June while in Williams burg. The judge will rule on competency of the child witnesses and whether a statement by the 2 1/2 year old can be admitted. Trial set for July 14 in Linn County.
