Collecting Our Past: Hills Presbyterian Church Beginnings

The Hills Presbyterian Church began as tent meetings in 1897, formed a Sunday school in Hills, and built a wood framed church, dedicated October 1898. By 1905 it was a growing community with a church, parsonage, and societies, later shifting from service use to an antique store on Oak Street. A silver goblet from the church ties to the Johnson County Historical Society collection.

Emily Perrin Campbell to perform in Canada fringe

Emily Perrin Campbell and her partner will take Emily to the Edmonton International Fringe Festival, financing the production themselves and hoping for box office success and good reviews. Campbell, a proofreader with ties to Southampton University and the National Health Service, views the trip as personally meaningful due to her late father from Alberta. The duo plans a one woman Florence Nightingale play next, commissioned by The Nightingale Initiative for Global Health, likely debuting in North America next summer. They express interest in bringing the show to Iowa City.
