Heavy rainfall lashed northeast Iowa with the Upper Iowa River cresting near flood stage in Decorah and streams flooding county roads. Burr Oak and Bluffton areas reported basements and campsites affected, with 6 inches of rain triggering water across culverts and flood advisories in Winneshiek and Howard counties. Weather officials noted much cooler conditions ahead.

Amana investigators traced the Beltz home fire to electrical wiring though a precise cause remains undetermined. A passerby explosion was considered incidental, possibly an aerosol can bursting, with no loss estimate available.
