Ford Motor Co recalls 49,740 Econoline vans and heavy duty light trucks over a possible brake power loss due to a loose bolt in the front brake assembly. Three Iowa Workers Convicted of Illegally Taking Jobless Pay

Three Iowa workers Leroy Meppelink Charles Williams and Thomas Dunsmore pled guilty to illegally receiving unemployment benefits. Meppelink from Tama County received 908.35 across six counts with suspended jail and one year probation on repayment. Williams from Scott County admitted to dual state benefits and faced a 15 day sentence suspended with repayment of 160 dollars. Dunsmore from Mahaska County was fined 100 dollars on five counts.

Low Interest Expected In Postcard Voter Registration

State officials doubt many Iowans will use the new postcard registration before next year as legislators plan a quick fix. The flaw requires notarized forms due to using affidavits instead of certified documents. Notarization slows the process. registrants may instead register in auditor offices. Gregg A. Evans, 19, of 1210 Third Street SE, faced five motor vehicle charges after police chased his motorcycle for four blocks at speeds up to 50 mph.
