Cedar Rapids academy helps Black students discover culture and gain confidence
The program founded nearly 37 years ago continues through Cedar Rapids schools with summer and after school offerings at Mount Mercy University and a new space at 119 14th St SE. Students like Zara Smith and Sebastian Young credit the academy with boosting learning passion, self esteem, and creative expression while teachers of color inspire new role models. The open house Aug 14 invites the community to tour.
