Inspiring summer program helps students of color in Iowa
The Academy for Scholastic & Personal Success expands to a new home in Cedar Rapids and offers a six week summer program for high school students. Immigrant student Georgia Oduor, 16, attends to learn about Black history and prepares for college through seminars in math science literature and financial literacy. Fridays include wellness activities like gardening and yoga. The program aims to fill gaps in K-12 education and culminates in a trip to deepen Black history knowledge beyond Iowa.
