Marion district faces end of year deficit in Food Service Fund
Marion Superintendent William Jacobson told the school board the Food Service Fund ended the year in deficit after years of a positive balance since the early 1990s. Factors include revenue overestimates, shorter snack times under the block schedule, repair costs, ticket-scanning equipment, kitchen remodel costs, and higher food and salary costs. The board also approved buying a lot at 2320 Daleview Dr for a jointly built student house with Linn-Mar for 31 000.
