Suit filed to reform Federated policy in Hubler death case
Roger Bacon doing business as Bacon Construction Co seeks Tama county district court reform of its Federated Mutual Insurance policy to cover contractual liability with Cargill Inc regarding the death of Mike Hubler an 18 year old employee electrocuted on a Mt Pleasant building project. Hubler's administrator Lee Hubler filed a separate federal suit demanding damages from Cargill Inc. and its insurer Liberty Mutual. Bacon alleges mutual mistake left coverage unenforceable and asks Federated to defend and cover liabilities to Cargill arising from the contract and to bear Bacon's expenses and attorney fees.

Medicaid Losses Loom For Iowa Elderly On Higher Social Security
Iowa state social service commissioner James Gillman warned that 350 to 400 elderly residents may lose Medicaid when a 20 percent Social Security raise takes effect. He noted many OAA recipients will fall above the $122 income limit, prompting coverage loss unless legislative action restores the medical only option. Gillman urged a 125 to 130 dollar boost to the basic OAA grant and said federal figures will determine if another increase is possible.
