Man sentenced to 59 years in 2008 assault and burglary
A Cedar Rapids woman testified about threats and a knife assault in August 2008 as Charles Horne, 34, received a 55 year sentence for third degree sexual abuse first degree burglary and two counts of second degree robbery. He pleaded guilty in April.

Local arrests tied to meth and assault cases across Iowa
Jason Gladwin and Michael Mease face charges for possession of drug precursors during a Thursday traffic stop on Old Quass Road near Alburnett. Gladwin also charged with tampering with anhydrous ammonia equipment. Mark Keller charged with conspiracy to manufacture meth and possessing precursors after allegedly buying pseudoephedrine in Cedar Rapids on May 26. A separate incident notes Tanesha Dickerson charged with assault causing bodily injury for injuring a person with a glass on July 14 at Coralville. Nicholas Green, also known as Nicholas Goldsmith, charged with assault causing serious injury after a suspected sucker punch on July 16 at Solon.

No one hurt after car strikes post office in Toledo
A car struck the Toledo post office at 200 W. High St around 4 p.m. The driver, 83 year old Charles L. Patterson of Toledo, said his foot slipped from the brake to the accelerator while backing into a parking space. Police questioned him. no injuries reported.
