Hawkeye couple injured in rural car-truck crash
Raymond Bemis and his wife Adele, residents of rural Hawkeye, suffered facial and head injuries and chest and pelvic injuries respectively when their newly delivered Dodge Omni collided with a pickup driven by Harry Davis about 4:15 pm at a gravel road intersection one mile south and west of West Union. Davis’ truck sustained about 850 dollars in damage. The Bemises’ car, with 25 miles on the odometer, was a total loss. Investigation ongoing by Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.

Linn County sheriffs deputies spent several hours Wednesday searching highways and corn fields of rural Marion after a patient from the county care facility apparently walked away. Squad cars a helicopter and a scent-tracking dog were used. He was spotted around 6 30 p.m. by an Iowa Highway Patrol officer and returned to the facility.
