Money market fund yields edge lower in week
Money Fund Report shows seven day average yield for money market mutual funds slipping to 3.37 percent from 3.41 percent while the 30 day average fell to 3.47 percent from 3.53 percent. Compound yields also declined with the seven day at 3.48 percent and the 30 day at 3.53 percent. Average portfolio maturity rose to 55 days. Bankrate.com notes unchanged yields for money market accounts at 1.75 percent and 0.68 percent for interest bearing checking. CD yields show small declines or upticks with six month CDs at 3.43 percent and five year CDs at 4.68 percent.
