Conservation Board drops lodge and part of park road plan
Linn County Conservation Board voted to remove the proposed lodge from the Squaw Creek site plan and delete the middle 2,000 feet of a loop park road. The board also formed a committee to study taking over part of the Cedar Valley Nature Trail and to consider limiting hunting in parks including Palo Marsh Natural Area. The Audubon Society urged protections, while a revised road design appeared acceptable, and objections to building a lake alongside the road were discussed. The trail financing progresses with Heritage Foundation raising 650,000 dollars for the Hiawatha to Evansdale route.
