The 20-year-old soloist was graduated in 1972 from Kennedy high school and has been studying for a degree in music education at Indiana university * He has played in the municipal band for five years and has soloed previously. Selections to be presented by the band are: “The Nutmeggers”, a concert march by Osterling; “Orpheus” overture by Offenbach; “Beguine for Band" by Osser; Bennett’s ‘‘Clarinet Polka”; “Soirees Musicales” by Rossini-Britten; the John Philip Sousa march “Semper Fidelis”; “Pas Redouble” by St. Saens; “An Irish Rhapsody” by Grundman; “Burst of Flame”, a concert march by Bowles; “Walt Disney Band Showcase” by Werle and another Sousa march, “Hands Across the Sea”. Frank Kluesner, 2729 Dale-, wood avenue SE, will be the guest conductor for the performance. Kluesner was a member of the Cedar Rapids symphony, for 12 years and played in the U.S. army band for three years. He has played first clarinet in! the municipal band and is chair-1 man of the municipal band commission.
