Eight year old Robert Price, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Price, was diagnosed with polio after exposure at Camp Good Health. He was moved to University hospital Iowa City, while camp operations continued with precautions. The Public Health Nursing Association and camp staff notified parents of 74 campers and affirmed routine care and safety measures.

Youth Killed by Kick of Horse Near North Liberty
William J. Ely 21 of North Liberty died Wednesday afternoon from chest injuries after a horse kicked him while his brother in law and sister watched on the mother’s farm near North Liberty. He served three years in the Pacific including Guam and was discharged last month from the Marines. Coroner says no inquest. Services set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Turner chapel with burial in Ridgewood cemetery. He is survived by his mother Mrs Hazel Ely and two sisters, Mrs. Stonecipher and Mrs. Paul Hill.

DES MOINES AP Gov William Beardsley announced the appointment of Mary Huncke, a member of the state board of social welfare, as acting chairman of the Iowa Displaced Persons Committee. Huncke succeeds Secretary of State Melvin Synhorst who resigned. The committee assists groups and individuals in obtaining displaced persons from Europe for relocation in Iowa.
