Vernon opposes Cedar Rapids roundabout near Washington High
Cedar Rapids council member Monica Vernon urges shelving the Cottage Grove Avenue SE and Forest Drive SE roundabout near Washington High School after the nine to 28 accident count review and a state clean air grant of 514160 dollars. Fellow council member Ann Poe also objects citing faster traffic and safety concerns for seniors and students. The council plans a review by committees while considering property needs and alternative sites such as Kirkwood Boulevard and 76th Avenue SW for the city’s first Cedar Rapids street roundabout.
