Franzenburg charges Iowa figures mislead on unemployment
Former Iowa official Paul Franzenburg accuses two state agencies ESC and OPP of conflicting unemployment data under Gov. Ray. He cites an April 1970 OPP report questioning full employment in Iowa and alleges officials distort figures to gain funds while keeping the public uninformed. ESC says high unemployment has drained its trust fund by $25.8 million since 1970.
