Solon family raises funds for posthumous baseball memorial
The Cass family of Solon funds a Little League baseball diamond in memory of David Cass, a 10 year old with chronic lung and kidney disease who died in 1997. A fundraising dance at Solon Lakeview Elementary is planned from noon to 5 p.m. with 100 to 150 expected attendees and donations directed to the memorial project. Leonard Lillskau will attend, praising Davids positive spirit and community support.

Ames officer spots car like missing Cedar Rapids man
An off duty Ames police officer spotted a dark blue 1990 Chevrolet Lumina similar to the vehicle of missing Cedar Rapids resident Robert Fletcher. Fletcher, 68, of 357 Forest Dr SE, was last seen June 23 leaving for a Lake MacBride cabin. A $25,000 reward is offered for information.
