Linn County approves hiring of assessor's daughter after miscommunication
Linn County Supervisors reluctantly approve Alicia Brislawn as full time clerk in the Assessor's Office after discovering she is Assessor Julie Kester's daughter. Audits show she began part time in 2010 and went full time in 2014 with salaries around 32 thousand to 35 thousand. The action follows Iowa Code prohibiting relatives without board consent and was treated as a corrective measure.
