Chlamydia Cases Rise In Iowa Across Years
Iowa reports 6958 chlamydia cases in 2004 up from 6462 in 2003 as testing expands. State STD program manager Karen Thompson notes higher numbers reflect better detection, not more disease, with 52000 tests in 2000 rising to about 60000 last year. Local counties show modest changes while gonorrhea and syphilis remain far lower.
