Linn storm leaves trees down and power outages across county
Linn County endured a severe Monday storm that toppled trees near Fairfax and Cedar Rapids, downing lines and cutting power to thousands. Officials reported outages affecting about 4,500 customers in the northwest area and 1,200 in J Street SW, with crews rewiring and replacing poles overnight. A fatality occurred when a tower collapsed at Universal Gym Equipment in southwest Cedar Rapids.
