Train rescue ends with toddler surviving hit by freight
In St Paul Minnesota railroad engineer Carl Nelson climbed onto a moving freight train to scoop 2 year old Jonathan Bluemel off the tracks. The boy was struck by the train going about 10 mph but ducked at the last moment and survived. He remained in hospital with severed toes and was listed in stable but critical condition.

Hiawatha Man Dies as Tower Crushes Cedar Rapids Plant
A violent Cedar Rapids storm toppled a 425 foot Communications Engineering tower onto Universal Gym Equipment Inc. injuring two workers. Arthur Achenbach, 57, of Hiawatha, died. David McLaud, 39, of 901 O Ave. NW, was in serious condition. The tower, owned by Communications Engineering Co., fell onto the building at 930 27th Ave SW, about three p.m. Monday. Fire crews extricated both workers after delays, with McLaud taken to Mercy Medical Center for head injuries and Achenbach trapped under debris. Authorities placed tower damage at over 200 feet.
