Dentist Dr Richard D Kelly Dies at 63 in Sigourney
Dr Richard Dudley Kelly 63 died at his Sigourney home Tuesday at 2 pm from a cerebral hemorrhage. A Kinross native born Feb 8 1891 he practiced dentistry here since 1917 and earlier served as Sigourney mayor. He was WW I veteran and Knights of Columbus member. survivors include wife five sons a daughter nine grandchildren and multiple relatives. The body rests at Reynolds funeral home.

Iowa Democratic Chairman Jake More urged Attorney General Leo Hoegh to repay salary if Liquor Commissioner William Housel must, after Auditor Chet Akers said Housel and Hoegh work only part time yet are paid full time. More accused Hoegh of the same setup as Housel. Hoegh did not respond.

Rites Thursday for Henry F Gillespie 90 Architect and Author
Funeral services for Henry F Gillespie 90 long time architect missionary author and farmer will be held Thursday at 3 p m in Gill funeral home. He died Tuesday in Delaware County Memorial hospital and burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Born September 4 1863 he studied at Manchester academy Adrian college Lombard college and Ryder Divinity School and wrote a book on Universalism and a paraphrase of Job titled Hiob. He spent 14 years as a missionary in Iowa and Ohio before returning to Manchester in 1909 to manage the home farm. He introduced Guernsey cattle and served as Farm Bureau president. A sister Mrs Sarah Huftalen survives.

Mouran Killed In Auto-Truck Crash Near Clarion
Donald Dale Mouran, 33, of Goodell died after his truck collided with a car at a gravel road intersection seven miles west and nine miles north of Clarion. Dorothy May Abels, 25, of Kanawha drove the car that rear ended Mouran’s truck. his truck overturned. Mrs Abels and her three children were unhurt. Mouran is survived by his wife and two children.

Army Hearing Coverage Costs WOI-TV Near 30000
WOI-TV spent about 30000 on full telecast of the 36 day McCarthy hearings. The station carried 160 hours of ABC network coverage, the longest single station feed in TV history. Cut Thumb Helps Capture Fugitive In Paterson Case
A cut thumb led Paterson police to arrest Harry Crane 27 from Sioux City Iowa an Iowa state penitentiary escapee facing two burglary charges. Crane was held without bail after arraignment Tuesday on the charges. He had escaped from a Woodbury County work detail on May 29 while serving a 10 year sentence.

The Iowa City city council awarded contracts totaling 56 001 90 for paving sidewalk and sewer work. William Horrabin Contracting Company of Iowa City won the paving bid at 49 587 65 while Dan Cristensen of Cedar Rapids won the sewer contract for 4 523 25 and Tom Alberhasky of Iowa City submitted the only sidewalk bid at 1 891.
