Fines Levied on Four Players After Brooklyn Brawl

Cincinnati Redlegs Raul Sanchez and Don Hoak and Brooklyn Dodgers Junior Gilliam and Charley Neal were fined 100 by the National League for Thursday night’s free for all in Brooklyn. League President Warren Giles warned against repeats in Friday’s game and cautioned Hoak about seeking revenge on Neal. Dodgers manager Walt Alston noted such incidents usually calm by the next day.

Golf entrants set for Ellis Park tournament in Iowa

Three notable Iowa golfers enter the Ellis park event starting Saturday at the Ellis park course. Herb Klontz former Iowa Amateur champion Jack Rule last year’s Jaycee champion and George Shimek 1955 Ellis champion seek the title. Tee times available by calling the Jaycee office EM 4 5135 entries taken at the course 8-11 am and 2-3 pm Saturday. Entry fee five dollars includes greens fees for both days.
