Habitat neighbors cherish new Cedar Rapids homes
Susie and William Reynolds live at 1715 Americus Dr SE as one of Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity first six houses in Genesis Park. Their path from renting in Maryland to home ownership included Mi dAmerica Housing Partnership support, a basement addition for a disabled son, and a one time grant for an extra bedroom and bathroom. The neighborhood hosts single parent families, deer sightings once, and a Sierra Leonean couple Kamara who helped organize a community party.

Newest residents make Cedar Rapids Habitat home
Crystal Gaal and her son Briar moved June 1 to a two bedroom house built by Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity on Americus Drive in Cedar Rapids. Her mother Judy assists with yard work and décor while Crystal oversees redecorating with help from relatives. The house, priced at 78000 dollars, impressed them for its condition and space versus their prior two bedroom mobile home in Hiawatha.

Habitat builds unite neighbors on Americus Drive
Residents on Americus Drive share pride in building their homes through Habitat for Humanity. Marilyn Mittan endured faulty work by a subcontractor leading to basement sewage and mold, with Habitat promising reimbursement. Kristen Hale, 30, and her twins pursued home ownership while juggling work, schooling, and volunteering. Nancy Hoffman praises quiet, cemetery-adjacent living near Oak Hill and St. George.
