Two Iowa City TB tests positive from school screening

In Iowa City 2 of 165 tested at Iowa City West High School were positive for tuberculosis. The Johnson County Health Department screened 8300 close contacts of a West student with TB symptoms. The two identified individuals, unnamed, are referred for chest X rays. results determine next steps and antibiotic if normal. A follow-up TB clinic in September will retest those who tested negative.
