Naperville Illinois police sought John G. Scherer 41 for the murder of his ex wife Sheri Scherer 41. He died in a head on crash with a semi near Waterloo Iowa while his 6 year old daughter Rachel died after being air lifted to Covenant Medical Center. The truck driver Charles Dietrich 47 of Wisconsin was uninjured. Investigators hope to interview him for details.
Cedar Rapids flood victims including Merle Price seek federal aid as FEMA closes five recovery centers this weekend. Since June 19, 1,319 residents filed for disaster assistance in 21 Iowa counties. $2.5 million approved for Eastern Iowa with $1.5 million for temporary housing and repairs, $800,000 for low interest loans, and $200,000 for grants.
