Ray Vetoes TRACIS Item and Other Iowa Bills
Governor Ray used his line item and general veto authority to strike provisions from an emergency bidding exemption bill and to cut sections from an appropriations measure affecting five state agencies TRACIS funding and public safety aid. He objected that budget shifts were too late for local governments and warned against expanding guard callout power. Signed into law were four bills funding education, the UI ISU and UNI, the Iowa Public Broadcasting Network, and other agencies. Additional measures made minor wills adjustments, permit corporate conversion to a cooperative, and allow investing police and fire retirement funds.
