8 year old found after weeklong mountain ordeal
An 8 year old city boy missing for a week in rugged mountains along the Tennessee North Carolina border was found hungry and apparently hallucinating but in good condition. A six man search team found Michael Eugene Reel of Hickory North Carolina at about 830 am CDT in a blackberry thicket on Roan Mountain. He was brought to Roan Mountain State Park then Carter County Memorial Hospital in Elizabethton for observation and was listed in satisfactory condition. Doctors expect no long term physical effects and say he should be running and playing within a few days.
