Des Moines Dropped From Unemployment List
Washington AF reports metropolitan areas with substantial unemployment over 6 percent were reduced in June. Des Moines Iowa along with Indianapolis Terre Haute Rosnoke Charlotte Gastonia and Greensboro Winston-Salem High Point drop from the list while Bowyer was added. The move cuts total areas on the list and signals the first sizeable decline since last September. Areas on the list may gain firm bid preferences on certain federal contracts if they hire a set share of disadvantaged workers.
