Mary F. Bohac of Cedar Rapids died in a local hospital at 5:05 p.m. Sunday after a long illness. Born February 23, 1870 in Iowa City, she leaves two Cedar Rapids daughters Gladys Carberry and Elizabeth Bohac, a brother Frank Wlach, a sister Anna Mekota of Solon, a granddaughter and two great grandchildren. She belonged to Praha Rebekah lodge Anna Naprstek lodge and the Nurses auxiliary of the Children's Home. Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Turner chapel with Rev. J. Richard Wagner presiding. Burial in Bohemian National cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.

Arthur D. Swezey of Lewiston Idaho died in a Cedar Rapids hospital at 1 25 am Monday after a sudden illness. He had visited his daughter and son in law William and Mrs Hughes at 1612 Center Point Rd NE. Born June 7 1876 in Red Wing Minnesota he owned saw mills across the Northwest for 50 years retiring two years ago. Surviving include Mrs Hughes three other daughters a son a sister nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge. Burial will be in Lewiston. Friends may call at Turner chapel until 9 pm Monday.

Two planes were damaged at an airport when a cement repair building collapsed. In Belmond three planes were blown over and damaged. A navy trainer was lifted two blocks and hurled into a fence. Lone Rock saw five planes damaged and a hangar partly destroyed. Hail punctured six private planes in Iowa City as telephone lines and signs failed. an 80 foot tree fell at the University of Iowa. Rural utilities were knocked out in many areas. Cedar Rapids reported restored service with some lines still down. Manchester faced flash floods forcing dozens from homes and washing out a bridge and roads. Strawberry Point lost train service as tracks flooded. several areas experienced significant flood damage along the Maquoketa river and Wapsipinicon. Firefighters rescued residents and people used boats to navigate flooded zones.
