Major housing project proposed for Cedar Rapids site

Midland Financial of Des Moines seeks to build 152 single family homes and 204 townhouses on a 200 acre wooded parcel along 42nd Street NE between Emerson Avenue and Old Oak Drive in Cedar Rapids. The plan includes a pedestrian trail, clubhouse, pool, trees, and two townhouse clusters with single family areas. The site is Linn County land being annexed to the city and rezoning from agricultural to residential is requested. City staff will review next week and the City Planning Commission meets July 19 to decide on approval or denial.

Rescue diver recalls melted gear in Piper Alpha disaster
