Des Moines AP reports Iowa temperatures neared 100 degrees as the weather bureau forecast three figure readings for most of the state on Thursday. At 4 pm Wednesday Council Bluffs and western Iowa hit 100 while eastern and central areas ran a few degrees cooler. Cities such as Omaha 100, Lincoln 103, Des Moines 93, Iowa City 93, Mon tezuma 94, Adair 96, and Cozad 101 were listed among readings. fair weather was expected with a chance of showers in the northwest tomorrow.

County Attorney G. K. Thompson warned Wednesday that the Des Moines temporary injunction protecting pinball operators does not cover payoffs. He said payoffs are tabooed and any related activity will lead to seizure. The injunction was served in Linn County, Cedar Rapids, and in more than sixty Iowa counties under a new law deeming pinball machines gambling devices.
MORRISVILLE Pa AP two men died when the insecticide spraying plane struck a tree and plunged into the old Lehigh canal. The victims were identified as Richard Shanklin 25 Chicago transport pilot and Stanley Pengally 25 Trevorton Pa duster by their employer A C Wilson.
National guardsmen in nearby Maryville stood by as police reserves rushed to the Aluminum Company of America plant in Alcoa after rioting wounded 21 workers and four policemen. The clash followed a $15 million expansion plan and a new TVA power purchase agreement.
