Massive 970000 Arms Cache Discovered in Los Angeles Warehouse
Authorities failed to identify owners of 70000 dollars worth of cannons shells and hand grenades found in a Los Angeles warehouse. The cache believed sufficient to arm a battalion was shipped from San Antonio to Ramon Arias in Panama and reconsigned to Maj. Richard L. Dineley in San Francisco who denied ownership. Dineley claimed Arias bought the weapons to resell in Ecuador. The cache prompted federal scrutiny but was treated as merchandise unless improperly registered. Ken magazine had exposed the cache detailing the United States Police Reserve association founded by Dineley and Sumner Dodge to guard against radical activity.
