Recreation center seeks national historic designation in Iowa City
The Robert A. Lee Community Recreation Center seeks listing on the National Register after unanimous approval by the State Nomination Review Committee on June 14. If approved by the National Park Service, the 1963 64 building could gain tax credits for rehabilitation. The center, designed by Roland Wehner in the Modern Movement style, reflects 1960s attitudes toward recreation and municipal upgrades in Iowa City.
