Tragedy at Bellevue Fourth of July Parade

A buggy driven by Mardell Steines was dragged by startled horses for six blocks injuring 24 spectators and killing Janet Steines 60. Police said a bridled horse lost its bridle causing the rampage as the buggy struck a combine and a road sign. Janet Steines died at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

Rising waters threaten business near Coralville Lake

Kris Kay owner of Robbers Grill and scales Pointe Campground near Iowa City warns higher lake water will hit revenues for a short summer season. Rain submerged tent camping and closed 91 site at Scales Pointe, costing thousands. If water reaches 708 feet, a low road section to the lake could be affected.
