Power plant sale could extend Duane Arnold license to 2034
FPL Energy to buy Alliant Energy’s Duane Arnold Nuclear Center with a long term power supply and a 20 year license extension targeting 2014. The deal includes a $150 million decommissioning reserve and a plan to increase output by 22 megawatts while retaining most of the 530 employees. Regulators’ approval and formal Iowa Utilities Board filing are pending.
