Nussle seeks input for farm bill reform

U S Rep Jim Nussle chaired a district meeting with farmers across the 2nd District to gather ideas for a new farm bill. He noted the current bill runs until next year and set aside 79 billion dollars to draft a replacement this year. Farmers urged market based income and expanded access to world markets, rejecting set aside programs as ineffective. Glen Keppy near Davenport and Doug Reimer near Guttenberg urged focus on export led growth and reducing government role.

One killed two hurt in two vehicle crash near Peosta

A two vehicle crash three miles east of Peosta in Dubuque County left one dead and two injured. The Iowa State Patrol reported the 9:43 am incident occurred on Highway 20 at the OCO Truck Stop after a car exiting the truck stop pulled into the eastbound lanes and was struck by a truck. Names were not released.
