Iowa Republicans face a low interest push for national convention slots as Nixon locks up the nomination. About 2,500 gather in Des Moines to select 22 delegates across six districts with several officers and a $25 fund-raiser Friday. Bicyclists Hit by Truck West of Strawberry Point
Three of four Waterloo youths were injured when a truck struck them from the rear on Highway 3, two and a half miles west of Strawberry Point. Allen Dettmer, 17, remained in critical condition at Waterloo hospital after airlift from Oelwein. Russell Frerick, 17, stayed hospitalized for observation. Stan Francis was released. Kevin DeSarano was uninjured. Don Lowe, 34, of Sigourney, driver, was charged with failure to stop in an assured clear distance ahead.

Decorah Airport Hearing Delayed Weeks by Judge
Decorah district court continued the hearing involving Decorah Airport Manager Erhard Preiss for several weeks. Judge T H Nelson ordered the city of Decorah to be named as plaintiff. The defendant challenged the airport commission’s status and contract terms but the dismissal was denied. A special election on August 1 will decide whether the airport commission continues control of the airport.

Local council backs Hoover Health Council donation
Cedar county health nurse Margery Norton and Dr. Walter Kopsa told the city council about the Hoover Health Council, an eight county nonprofit grouping of providers and consumers. Two Northwest Iowans Die From Auto Injuries
In Sioux City two elderly residents died of injuries from prior crashes. James Kovorna, 87, of Merrill, died in a Hinton two car crash last month while Elmer Tucker, 72, of Sioux City, died after being struck by a car while crossing a downtown street. Both deaths occurred in Sioux City hospitals.

Iowa teachers to gain 3.2 percent pay rise 72-73
DES MOINES UPI reports Iowa public school teachers will receive an average pay increase of about 3.2 percent for the 1972-73 school year. The Iowa Association of School Boards says superintendents will get roughly 2.3 percent more than last year.
