Frederick Douglass's 1852 Fourth of July Oration in Rochester
Frederick Douglass, appearing at Corinthian Hall in Rochester on July 5 1852 before 500 to 600 attendees, delivered What to the Slave is the Fourth of July a searing critique of American slavery and church complicity while defending the Constitution as a path to liberation. He warned of oppression provoking wisdom in the oppressed and expressed guarded hope for national transformation despite an unyielding immoral framework.

Donor Registry Push Aims To Diversify Bone Marrow Matches
Colleen Reardon of the Iowa Marrow Donor Program urges a national registry expansion to improve matching for patients of color. Diana Fonseca, inspired by her brother Isaac Fonseca Garcia who died in 2016, has mobilized Marshalltown residents to sign up, highlighting higher odds for White patients and lower odds for Black and multiracial individuals. The program collaborates with campus groups to recruit diverse donors, aiming to cure everyone regardless of ethnicity.
