New Iowa plan expands aid for needy parents and working poor
Two new Iowa social service programs aid unemployed parents and working poor children. Shelter assistance helps rent or mortgage up to nine months through March 1982, paid to landlords. Title 19 medical aid extends to working poor children. Changes also cut ADC cash for expectant mothers and reduce school supplies funding, with step-parents now counted in eligibility. Local DSS offices handle applications within 30 days.
