Flood Suit Won By Power Firm At Manchester
District Judge Paul Kildee ruled Iowa Electric Company not liable in an $80,000 flood damage suit brought by Robert P. Nall and others of Manchester. Plaintiffs alleged the West Marion street dam near the power plant caused river flooding and asked flood gates to prevent damage. The dam reportedly dates to about eighty years before the first cited flooding.

Dumont high school student Carole Pfaltzgraff was crowned queen of the All State Instrumental Music Camp at the University of Iowa. Attendants were Elizabeth Field, Jann Fraser, Joanne Moon, and Barbara Stephens. The event capped two weeks of classes and rehearsals for 260 campers from 87 Iowa towns.

Waukon Boy, Five, Stricken by Polio at University Hospitals
Waukon boy Donald Olson five, son of Mr and Mrs Arnold Olson of Waukon, was reported in serious condition at University Hospitals Iowa City on Saturday after being stricken with polio Thursday. He first went to Waukon hospital Thursday and was transferred to U Hospitals Friday.

Negotiations Continue In Iowa Power and Light Talks
DES MOINES AP. Negotiators from local 499 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers rejected Iowa Power and Light Companys latest contract offer but agreed to resume talks Tuesday morning. The union seeks a 10 percent raise with regional differentials. current pay ranges from 1.56 to 2.50 an hour. No strike will occur over the Fourth of July weekend as talks proceed.
