Cedar Rapids clerks cited for selling alcohol to minor

Police and a minor volunteer checked 10 Cedar Rapids businesses in southwest and northwest areas on Friday. Clerks at Petro N Provisions, Hawkeye Convenience, and Citgo sold alcohol to the underage buyer. Sgt. Tom Jonker said this was the first in a series of planned enforcement checks at bars, stores, and clubs.

Police and the RAID Task Force, a six agency partnership, found an active methamphetamine lab in a vehicle during a search shortly after 4 am Monday in Oelwein. No arrests were made and investigators continue the case.

Winter storm delays Iowa fire investigation at historic bookshop

A winter storm in Manchester postponed the state fire investigation into a Sunday blaze that heavily damaged the 145 year old Maranatha Book Shop Mail Boxes and Parcels. No injuries were reported as Fire Marshal George Howe said the investigator, returning from Illinois, would likely start later in the week.
