Park Service limits snowmobiling at Herbert Hoover Site
National Park Service had announced snowmobiling in national parks including the Herbert Hoover Historical Site in West Branch but the city’s ordinance restricts snowmobiles to Parkside Drive. After a hearing West Branch officials confirmed only Parkside Drive may be used to enter or exit the site and all other park areas remain closed, with operation complying with local and state laws.

Adopt A Horse program seeks more wild horse adoptions
The Bureau of Land Management calls for adopters of wild horses and burros to help control overpopulation on western range lands. Since the program began, 32 000 animals have been adopted. Dudgeon Lake Opens for Promiscuous Fishing
Dudgeon Lake north of Vinton near the Cedar River is opened to promiscuous fishing due to low oxygen levels risking a fish kill. State waters allow spearing of all species, except by explosives guns chemicals or electricity, under the new rule effective Thursday.
