Cedar Rapids Road Corridor Studied For Future Growth

Cedar Rapids officials described the Cedar Valley road corridor as a crooked line on a long sheet of paper. Mayor Johnson, Parks Commissioner Gardner, and Safety Commissioner Bush discussed route options, property appraisals, and funding with about 40 residents at River Side Roundhouse. The corridor study by a Kansas City firm aims to connect Waterloo and Cedar Rapids to Interstate 80, with a February deadline slipping to early March as more data is gathered. The $20 million project could be phased, with 90 percent of costs from federal roads and ten percent from city and state, and first sections opening as completed.
