Charles D Burns 83 Marion native dies in Cedar Rapids hospital
Charles D Burns longtime Marion resident and 83 dies Thursday in a Cedar Rapids hospital. Born April 11 1885 north of Marion he married Laura Tripp June 2 1983 in Cedar Rapids, she died June 13 1954. A Marion postmaster former city councilman and state highway engineer, he retired in 1955 after 11 years as postmaster and belonged to First United Methodist Church Marion Lodge 6 AF and AM Canopus Club and Iowa Historical Society. Survived by two sisters three nephews and one niece services Monday at Murdoch Chapel with burial at Oak Shade Cemetery. Mason members to meet at temple at 10 15 am Monday. Memorials to Metlinelist Church may be given.
